update: These questions have been turned over to the new Constituents Services Department. Where you must fill out a comment form.
I would like information on the specifics of the following:
In the February issue of the Osage News on the Budget - would you please clarify if this information is from 2007 budget or is for the year of 2008?
Never clarified - still open
I have heard from other constituents (outside the reservation) that there is a hold on funds for college students, and those that had received scholarships funding previously will NOT receive any more funds for this semester? Please know I have no personal interest in these funds.
My gripe is also, both executive and congress branches are spending, spending - hiring non essential personal, but paying big bucks. I am truly put out with the activity going on here, and so should other concerned Osage citizens.
There appears to be a hold up or no funds for scholarships, however, the Executive and Congress Branches are using more money to hire more people and form new departments. Unfortunately, the tribe has people in positions that are not qualified, where they must hire others to do the job while the loss of funds for programs suffer.
Executive:
Congress:
We have big problems with this branch and these members; William Kugee Supernaw, Mark Simms, Anthony Shackelford, Doug Revard, Faren Anderson, and Jerri Jean Brandstetter sometimes with Eddie Red Eagle.
They are the ones with this 6 - 6 split that I assure you does and did not exist. This was used as an excuse to change the committee structure that was not his personal selection. Formation of an Audit Department with their appointment of an investigator to be used as a form of double duty (and un-constitutional) while checking into the construction of Osage Casinos, which is subject to Federal and State Law and the NIGC and Osage Gaming Commission and separate tribal organization and one that is currently paying their and others salaries.
{ Hark! I hear an old saying coming through - Don't bite the hand that feeds you }
This is only
ONE of Kugee's controversial thought with his own reasoning(s) and the destruction of the purpose to make laws with respect to the peoples Constitution.
If I might conclude my narrative on this topic and the new department creation. During Kugee's oration and confirmation on this investigation "he states that there will be "NO" real investigation", while fabricating his own justification for this department he tried to nullify his own representation and purpose by lying to those in the Congress Session. You do not have to believe me you can instead listen to the tape through the Osage Nation Website.
Mark
Simms
: Has nothing positive to propose, he reflects on the negative and find fault with those that want to develop and reassure the people. When he is in attendance his only focus is on negative gossip of the Executive Branch, his dislike of those employed by the Agency is nothing short of appalling.
Anthony
Shackelford
: He only cares about himself, his muscles, and everyone else be damned. He is an idiot.
Doug
Revard
:
I am very disappointed in
Doug.
I believed he was the one to support the people, the Constitution and be the representative we could trust.
Unfortunately he has aliened himself with the above three stooges.
Faren
Anderson
:
Does Not listen to the people, she is to busy reworking the “rules and ethics” which has been her main focus since she was elected. She has changed the rules and adopted both the Mason Rules and the Roberts Rules – obviously she has difficulty in making a decision.
She has been the only one to call a public meeting that was a disaster and should not have been, and she has never submitted the environment (water injection at oil sites).
While she and Anthony S. was on the Environment Resources committee – they both deprived the EPA of the much needed and necessary satellite mapping.
Jerri
Jean
Brandstetter
:
Is a disappointment – during the 2007 budget meetings, she asked inappropriate questions, that I believed was worthy for me to write letter, which I did.
Eddie
Red Eagle:
We have disagreed on some points and one was the recent voting to give
Anthony
Shackelford travel expenses without prior approval.
Because of this type of actions by our Congress – there is NO penalty for ethics.
Health, Fitness and Wellness funding in this paper seems to me to be very inadequate for the Osages with current health problems. I do know that 2007 only spent 2% for the health care, is there going to be any additional funding from the Osage Tribe? Please know I am not asking for information on the federal funding. I am asking for the monies from the Tribe only.
This is the one I am truly interested in and concerned about:
Child, Family and Senior Assistance: I want to know how the funds are divided up for each program - A) Child; B) Family; C) Seniors

Suggested items for now and future.
Health:
I would like the Nation to establish a Fund for those that have a need for Prosthetics due to removal of appendages and to include but not limited to other medical items denied to our members.
This fund should cover ALL Osages with limbs and other body parts that need replacements for disfigurement due to a medical procedure or disease. This should include medical access to ambulatory products to make their life better.
End of life:
I believe there should be an additional funding to help in covering all burial expenses for many who do not have access to funds to bury their loved ones.
Burial costs keep rising and we should provide for our own people.
We have programs for the children and young adults, if they live here in the Osage and nothing for those living elsewhere.
I would like benefits for all our people and I believe we can do this in the near future.
The Elderly need your help now and future programs for those of us that will be the elders to come.
There are many things for the elderly, but we do not utilize any program effectively or on a positive note. The Title VI program is virtually an embarrassment for us because of the attitude of those in charge and the feeling of doom that comes with the building.
This building is only used for a specific few and off limits to the Nations elderly.
You have vehicles that are idle and could be used to take the elderly places as needed or to join the others at lunchtime.
There are NO quality activities for the elderly in this building but, has potential and could be put to a much better use. There would have to be changes in the personal As I understand this building must only be used for lunch “only” and no one else can use it for birthdays, gatherings, no night access, no one outside the Title VI cooks can cook at this facility, due to Federal Grants?
This has been going on for far too long and needs change NOW not in the future.
We need to protect our elderly and not abuse them with nothing to do or incentives programs.
We can have meetings, but have you read the rules:
All chairs and tables must be cleaned and put back where they were.
Empty all trash.
This could be handled better.
There are people there that should be able to help the seniors to clean up and empty trash and they are already paid to clean up. After lunch is cleaned up there is NOTHING for them to do, but play on the computers, work puzzles and this facility is closed at
4:00 pm and not opened until the next morning.
I believe this to be a tragedy for all of us.
